Seek Straightness in a Circle
April 15 – 21, 2018
September 2 – 8, 2018
Riders: €1299 - Non-riders: €1100
Pilates gives you better body awareness, e.g. it helps you to recognize when you are sitting straight on a horse. It will teach you to understand the problems caused by the instabilities in your body, both in power, strength and stiffness. Your body will not be built in a week, but you will discover how to continue to work with it independently.
We will also use Spiral Stabilization, a method very suitable for riders especially in developing straightness in your vertebrae and relieving the tension in your shoulders and hip flexors. And, of course, we do stretching and relaxing exercises.
Your coach Anu Valve is a Pilates and Stretching instructor specializing in the biomechanics of riders.
Her motto is: "Centered Riding is very much like Pilates on a horse."
Horse Riding Lessons
We all seek to achieve a partnership with our horses. This partnership may be attained when riders are “in harmony” with the horse. During the week, you will have Centered Riding® lessons with Johanna Beattie Batista to help you accomplish this through an improved understanding and use of your own body. You will also gain a simple knowledge of human and horse anatomy, balance, movement, and an understanding of how the mind affects the body and how both can affect the horse.
We will start with a lecture about the biomechanics of a rider and the principles of Pilates. After that you will have two daily Pilates and Stretching lessons, one in the morning before your riding lesson and one after it (except on Thursday 1 hour, see below). These lessons will be held in a group of 2-3 participants and, depending on the group, can be held in Finnish, Swedish, English or Spanish.
Riding lessons (2 riders at a time) will be held from Monday to Friday. Thursday morning is free giving you an opportunity to explore the historical and cultural sites nearby, e.g. Seville, Jerez, Doñana National Park. If you choose, you can go out hacking or even have an extra riding lesson (these are not included in the price).
Included are 4 semi-private riding lessons, Biomechanics lecture (4 hours), 7 Pilates lessons (for 2-3 people), full board and 6 nights shared ensuite accommodation.
